What is Saas? How does SaaS work? Advantages and Disadvantages What does it look like? Examples Prevalence Barriers to adoption Conclusion
SaaS (Software as a Service) 1. A way of delivering applications over the internet as a service 2. Licenses are needed for each customer or deploying a single instance multi-tenant access mode 3. Licenses are provided though "pay-as-you-go" model or no charge
Multitenant model A SaaS provider uses the same application environment for all its customers.
SaaS Vs. ASP Single-tenant model : each customer uses the business software as a single tenant
1. Save money 2. Simple the business process for both Vendors and Clients 3. Faster implementation 4. Multi-tenant efficiency
1. Lack of flexibility 2.Security 3. Stability 4. No expected results
Some general software that can be offered as a service: 1.Customer Relationship Management (CRM)'s, 2.Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)'s, 3.General Ledger Accounting, Invoicing, 4.Document Management, Financials, and so on
1. Google SaaS offers software services such as: , calendars, word documents, and websites. 2. Microsoft SaaS allows businesses to purchase an annually renewable license for specific Microsoft Office programs.
SaaS becomes prevalent, because of the long-term benefits of SaaS according to Forrester Research. 1. Easier to access 2. Can be used efficiently 3. One-Fifth less cost
About 90% of respondents will maintain or expand their current usage of SaaS.
More concentration is needed: SaaS is just a software, so it won’t operate until people let it starts. The security problem of customer’s privacy: It potentially possesses the risks of security.
Every SaaS will not be developed equally. Company: needs to keep their own systems for certain functions. Client: evaluate benefit and cost before they adopt SaaS.
