YOUR CIRCULATORY SYSTEM How does it work? Why does a doctor check your pulse and blood pressure? What is your blood type and why is it important?
Circulatory System Notes. Pulmonary Circulation: Lungs, oxygen into blood, carbon dioxide out Systemic Circulation: Moves blood to body (not to heart.

Purpose of Circulatory System
Circulatory System Human physiology.
The Circulatory System. Aorta Superior vena cava Pulmonary artery Pulmonary vein Bicuspid valve Right atrium Right ventricle Inferior vena cava.
THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM Your “real” heart  The muscular pump that makes the cardiovascular system work. It is made up of cardiac muscle and provides.
Also called the circulatory system, it consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. It carries needed substances to cells and carries waste products.
Circulatory System. Functions: Carries oxygen and nutrients to organs and tissues Carries oxygen and nutrients to organs and tissues Transports away carbon.
The Circulatory System. Function  Consists of the heart and blood vessels  Carries oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells and remove carbon dioxide.
Circulatory System. What does the transport system do?  Carries O 2, CO 2, nutrients, hormones, wastes, cells of the immune system  Regulates body temp.
Why is it important? Your body’s cells depend on the blood vessels to bring nutrients & remove wastes.
Circulatory System. Functions Transportation of food, water, oxygen, and other materials to cells Elimination of carbon dioxide and other waste materials.
Human Transport System
CARDIOVASCULAR SYS A collection of organs that transport blood throughout the body. The human body has systems that transport gases, nutrients, and wastes.
Cardiovascular System Key Terms 7 th Grade Science.
 Cardio- means heart  Vascular- means blood vessels  Aka Circulatory System because its job is to circulate blood throughout the body.  Blood carries.
Functions of the Cardiovascular System Cardiovascular system is also known as the circulatory system Main functions are delivering materials to cells.

Cardiovascular System Chapter 16.1 This is a collection of organs that transport blood throughout the body.

Blood Vessels Artery- blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart Vein- vessel that carries blood to the heart Capillary- a tiny blood vessel that allows an exchange between blood and cells in other tissue

Blood Red blood cells carry oxygen, carbon dioxide and nutrients. White blood cells fight pathogens(germs). Platelets form clots to stop bleeding.

2 Types of Circulation Pulmonary circulation is the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and back again. Systemic circulation is the flow of blood from the heart to all parts of the body and back to the heart.

Cardiovascular Problems Atherosclerosis is fatty buildup in the blood vessels. A heart attack is when heart muscle doesn’t get enough blood due to a blockage of a blood vessel. A stroke happens when a blood vessel in the brain becomes blocked or breaks.

Hypertension is abnormally high blood pressure. Heart failure happens when the heart is too weak to pump enough blood to the body.

Anatomy of the Heart The two upper chambers of the heart are called the atria. The two lower chambers of the heart are the ventricles. Valves are flaplike structures that prevent blood from going backward.
