CHILDHOOD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

Beyond Infancy….

Physical Development - growth of body tissues Fine motor - growth of small muscles Gross motor - growth of large muscles

Social Development - progress from being self-centered and dependent to becoming independent and capable of behaving in socially acceptable ways

Emotional Development - development of positive feelings about oneself, family, friends and the world at large

Intellectual - how we learn, which depends on brain growth stimulated by the five senses

Human growth depends on nurturing relationships. The 3 key element of a nurturing relationship are: a) the ability to comfort b) the ability to play with c) the ability to teach……..children These abilities grow with the human’s maturing needs
