Between Chicago grew from 17 sq. mi. to 178 sq. mi. Boston grew from 5 sq. mi. to 39 sq. mi.

Transportation  Electricity changed how American got around in the cities Who invented the lightbulb?  Thomas Edison Who created the electrical distribution system?  George Westinghouse  Street cars & commuter trains are being used  Cities expand out…to the suburbs

Henry Ford’s Model T  Model T Model T  Used the assembly line to create the 1 st mass produced automobile – the Model T Only came in Black  Affordable – easier transportation – nation of new drivers…  The Ford plant was the first factory to be integrated!!
