The ADE Professional Development UnitProfessional Development -My team builds, delivers, and supports professional development in Math, Science, and Literacy -We provide direct support to content specialists at co- ops and STEM centers -We coordinate with AETN to provide on-line professional development through ArkansasIDEAS -We collaborate with Educational Renewal Zones (ERZ) to host professional development events What do we do?

PDSAM -Professional Development Submission and ManagementProfessional Development Submission and Management -This system is a searchable database of ADE approved professional development providers -When you have PD provided “in-house” you don’t have to do this

Rules Governing PD -60 vs 36 – Minimum requirement -Scheduled PD – content must be ADE approved, you can facilitate “in-house” -This year’s scheduled PD is Parent Involvement -Dyslexia Professional Awareness is required this year, and law prescribes 2 components -Pay attention to trainings specific to administrators -Rule update videovideo

Flexibility in PD - PLCs - Book studies - Individualized PD - Meet the PGP for 18, 2 scheduled, dyslexia, specific job PD, but the rest can be flexible - Meet the definition of professional development (Section 4) and criteria or focus area (Section 8)
