MAJOR  Photosynthesis- Changes solar energy into chemical energy

Stroma- The place where starches and sugars are created. Thylakoids- Site of Photosynthesis Granum- Stack of Thylakoids Stromal Lamellae- Connect the Grana

MAJOR  Cellular respiration- the metabolic process that generates ATP by extracting energy from sugars, fats and other fuels with the help of oxygen

Porins- Integral proteins found on the Outer Membrane. They allow molecules that are 5000 Daltons or less to freely diffuse across the cell. Cristae- Expands the surface area within the cell. Matrix- Contains many different enzymes and mitochondrial DNA and ribosomes. They catalyze some steps of cellular respiration.

CHLOROPLASTSMITOCHONDRIA  Sites of photosynthesis  In plants cells  Sites of cellular respiration  In all eukaryotic cells (plants, animals, fungi)

Both the mitochondria and the chloroplasts work independently, the cells depend on these for food and energy.
