Presenting your work.

Presentation techniques. Presentation is a very important part of graphic design. When advertising a product or service, customers need to be able to read certain information so it must be presented in a clear and neat way. Your work, ideas and designs are the product that you are ‘selling’ to the examiners so you must present it in a clear and neat way. You will learn about a variety of drawing styles and techniques so that you can present design ideas, but you also need to consider page layout. Think about a film poster. It will contain the names of the stars, the name of the film, the certification, the production company and the legal disclaimers. When considering layout you should think about what information is the most important and what you may wish to conceal. How do you establish who is the most important star of the film? Consider positioning of information, size, colour and ease of reading. Of course you can also use pictures, underlining and borders to show information in different ways.

When typing blocks of text, consider whether you want it aligned left or justified. Aligned left Justified

Use titles and break long blocks of words into paragraphs.

Consider making key points bold, italic, highlighted or underlined and use borders to separate different sections of text.

Lastly, think about colours and pictures to complete your work. Do not colour over your work so that you cant read it, instead consider using coloured borders.

Task: Write up the information that your teacher is giving you on fonts, presenting it in a clear, neat way that will be easy to revise from for your exams.
