Slide 3 Marie Curie Actions as a support for training Marie Curie Actions –direct relation to the European Commission’s strategic research priorities –a boost for researchers’ career prospects –a catalyst to form longer-term collaborations amongst the partners; ITNs at CERN –making facilities available to a new generation of researchers –non-CERN Member State nationals included

Slide 4 Career Development Plans (CDP) for each ESR/ER Must be established within 4 weeks by supervisors with the ESR/ER who is at the host organization for at least 6 months  sign original, send to Seamus + put copy on SharePoint site The CDP identifies scientific objectives, training needs (technical and complementary skills) The CDP is the basis for writing the periodic activity reports Researchers must play an active role in shaping their own training programme and professional development

Slide 5 Activity logs Researchers should write an activity log : –a useful tool for work and following training and conference attendance –use the SharePoint site (see Robert’s presentation) Researchers should review it regularly (monthly?) with the supervisor – don’t wait a year!

Slide 6 Procedures for travel Researcher & supervisor travel : –request permission by to WPL –attach approval to EDH document WPL : –request permission by to Robert –attach approval to EDH document Associated partner travel : –request permission by to WPL Keep all receipts, proof of travel (boarding cards!), etc.

Slide 7 Conferences & workshops Training allowance for researchers : 600 €/month Location of training events : –WPL gives permission for events in European Union –Project Officer permission if outside European Union (Seamus) Encourage your researchers to attend events –for their good –for the good of the network Money not used is money lost!

Slide 8 Participation in ACEOLE management Researchers are welcome to contribute ideas on how the network is managed : –be involved in the management of the network –additional complementary on-the-job training –periodic meetings involving the researchers

Slide 9 Summary of actions Work Package Leaders : –updated deliverables following this meeting –monitor the deliverables for your WP –meet your researchers and supervisors Supervisors : –provide Career Development Plan within 4 weeks of researcher’s contract start Researchers : –activity logs
