Insulation experiment
The process of heating and cooling account for 50 to 70 % of the energy used in the average American home. It is predicted that the average temperature will rise another 3 to 10 degrees F in the next 100 years.
“Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are drying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace” Global warming – the gradual temperature change in the Earth’s atmosphere due to primarily carbon dioxide build up from burning coal, oil and gas. These are Greenhouse gases!
Greenhouse gasses allow sun to enter the Earth. Guess what! There is a lot more to the sun then just visible light!
Plant and animal respiration ( we exhale carbon dioxide) Driving cars Heating and cooling a living space Drinking from plastic water bottles Forest losses Eating non – local foods
An insulator does not allow flow of electrons. Insulation is a material or substance that is used to prevent the transfer of heat, electricity or sound. In a building, insulation is placed in the walls and roof. When insulating a building, the quality of an insulation material is measured by how well it keeps heat out.
