Page 4 User Vice-Chair - History –Two User vice-chairs in the past: IGPB then UNEP –User Vice-Chair vacant after the departure of M.Wilson ( UNEP ) –WGISS-15 ( Toulouse ) concluded that this role had to be continued. –Adhoc group ( Antikidis, Clark, Cudlip, Faundeen, Petiteville ) redefined the Terms of References of the WGISS User Vice-Chair. –Call for candidates ed on Jan. 15, 2004
Page 5 User Vice-Chair – Terms of References Interact with science and environmental organizations to understand their EO requirements and once those needs are understood, encourage the take up of relevant WGISS systems and services to improve EO capabilities. Engage less active Agencies to take up relevant WGISS systems and services and to participate more directly within WGISS forums. Coordinate with WGISS non-space organizations and Associates to ensure that their EO requirements are understood and develop strategies allowing those needs to be met. Actively pursuing CEOS Agencies to offer better, wider, and more open access to data, information, and software products they hold, to the benefit of the EO user community. In addition, the next User Vice-Chair shall have a deep knowledge of the worldwide User Community. The importance of his role will require his presence at every WGISS Plenary meeting.
