 United Kingdom shares warm ties with South Africa  Somalia ▪ Working with international partners and leading Security Council members to work towards a stable and peaceful Somalia. ▪ The UK gave 34 million pounds of humanitarian and developmental support to Somalia in 2008/2009 and sent peacekeeping forces to Somalia as well. somalia/development

 Military Involvement  Royal Navy  The Royal Navy is actively countering piracy around the Horn of Africa and is playing a leading role in international efforts to do so.  Forefront of the EU's first naval operation, Operation Atalanta, providing the Operation Commander and the Operation Headquarters at Northwood. roller/macaire/entry/uk _and_somalia
