 Basic Grading system!!  90% and up = A  80% and up = B  70% and up = C  60% and up = D  59% and below = F  I = Incomplete, this may be used along with a grade of zero, to indicate I will still accept an assignment.

 As you discuss the following subjects with your classmates, refer to the unit reading assignments and use the library/internet for additional reference.  After contributing one substantial response (100+ words), please respond to at least two (2) of your classmates' posts with a significant and thoughtful response.  Contribute to the discussion board at the start of the unit and on at least two other days.  Respond with posts that are grammatically correct and cite all sources by including the web address and author.  Each unit ends on Tuesday Night at 11:59pm EST.

 Log into the discussion 2 or 3 times during the week. Remember this is our classroom.  Log in and make the main post!  When you log in read through the new posts since you last entered and comment of a few.  Please do not log in and make non- contributing posts.

 If you miss a discussion you may complete a 300 word essay that addresses that units discussion topic and submit it to the doc sharing.  These are done as a makeup and start one letter grade less than the Discussion board.  Do not go back and post in closed discussions. I do not give credit for late or early posting.

 Follows description as provided in the course,  Provides factually accurate information based on the textbook as well as reliable outside sources,  Meets length requirements as described within the project description,  Properly credits sources used (in APA format),  Follows basic standards for college-level writing—that is, proper grammar, spelling, and organization,  Submitted by the deadline.

 Each assignments clearly explains the requirements as to length in pages, types of pages needed, references or sources needed and content.  Each assignment will be graded based on the students ability to cover all aspects in the described topics, grammar, spelling, content, and general ability to show that you understand the material.

 Enters the scheduled KHE Seminar sessions on time,  Actively participates throughout the entire session,  Interact with fellow students & instructor throughout the session,  Provides original contributions that further the work of the class.

 Enter the seminar on time and remain throughout.  Participate when questions are asked and comments are asked for.  I look at the length of time you were present and the number of times you posted a comment. Students commenting less than 10 times or being present less than 50 minutes will not receive full credit.

 Write an essay that reflects a viewing of the seminar transcript and is words using proper credits for sources used.  Follows basic standards for college-level writing using, proper grammar, spelling, and organization. Put in the doc sharing area.  If you miss a seminar, you can go in and access the archive and watch the seminar.

 Plagiarism is not tolerated at all!  Copying and pasting of information from a website, book, or any source is strictly prohibited. Retyping directly from a source is also prohibited.  All sources must be cited and referenced in discussions and in written assignments.  Copy and pasting violations will result in a zero for the assignment. Additional violations can result in University Discipline.

 Criminalistics usually involves physical evidence recovered from a crime scene or left by an offender. Can you think of an example of physical Evidence that can be found at a crime scene?

Forensics is a term most commonly applied to the scientific examination of evidence. What examples of forensic evidence would need forensic examination to have value for the investigation?

 Be sure to be able to define and understand these terms for Unit 1.  Comparison Microscope  Rules of Evidence  Forensic Science  Criminalistics  Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS)

Create a 6-7 slide PowerPoint presentation (excluding the title page) that addresses the following : Identify the types of evidence and their importance to the investigative process  Discuss the various types of evidence and how it is collected  Discuss how the evidence will be examined  Discuss the types of information the evidence can provide  Discuss some possible contamination issues with the collection of the evidence.  What are the different types of evidence?  Address any other relevant issue to this topic.  The Project tab has links helping you get a trial copy if needed and a training video is available as well.

 The first unit acquaints you with the historical development of the criminal investigative process and the attributes that are essential for the effective investigator.  The concept of physical evidence familiarized you with the development of certain scientific techniques that have aided the criminal investigator in solving cases.  We also look at the ability to interpret the value of evidence as well as reconstructing scenes and events during the course of the investigation.
