Can - SAT Project

Agenda Project Description CanSat Objectives Project Objectives Project Rules –Mandatory –Optional History of CanSAT Design Goals Team Structure Questions

Project Description CAN-SATellite To design and build an aerospace system similar to that of a sensory satellite and uninhabited aerial vehicle. CAN-SAT is a remote sensor which is capable of Autonomous descent to a GPS coordinate.

Cansat Objectives Deploy from rocket Descend to specific location Send/receive data via Radio Sensor collection (GPS, Altimeter, temperature) Autonomous navigation

Project Objectives Everyone will be able to conceptualize, design, build and test. Create engineering documents Interact with Mentor from Committee (similar to customer of Aerospace industry)

Mandatory –Cansat mass <500g –Integration into can shaped envelope size restriction of rocket –Descent rate –Costs no more than $1000 USD Project Rules

Project Rules (continued) Mandatory –Telemetry –Sensory –Remote sensor mode

Optional –Autonomous Navigation –Landing Imagery –Solar power Project Rules (continued)

History

Design Goals Launch date for competition –June 2009 Autonomous navigation
