Public Service Campaign Stress & Wellness

What is a public service campaign? Public awareness campaigns are everywhere around us, from MADD Canada’s advertisements on television to people who protest outside of abortion clinics and fur-coat factories. The purpose of a public awareness campaign is simple: to inform a general public audience about a certain topic or issue. Sometimes, public awareness campaigns are overtly persuasive; other times, public awareness campaigns simply aim to inform and enlighten.

What is my task? You will be creating a public awareness campaign about STRESS and/or WELLNESS that you are going to advertise to a teenage population. The information you choose to share with them should apply to them, as a teenage population. You can give facts or you can give tips or you can give facts and tips.

How will I do this? You can work alone or with 1-2 partners. You must use the information from your text book and at least 2 other [good] sources. Your project must be interesting for your audience and also educational. The sources you use should have some merit: health departments, Dr.Oz, government websites. Be sure to provide an APA reference page and to internally cite your sources. Even if you use stats or quotes or advice from such a website in a wordle or animation or art, cite the source and discuss with me how best to give credit to your sources.

Ideas BASIC Brochure, use Microsoft Publisher Try a wordle: ADVANCED Powerpoint Presentation that you will present to a grade 9 or 10 class. Try a prezi: Try a wallwisher: Artwork Animation: great-animation-and-video-creation.htmlhttp:// great-animation-and-video-creation.html

Evaluation Your mark will be dependent on several factors Did you work alone or with a group? If you worked with a group, the work should be more detailed, impressive. You cannot do the two basic options unless you are working alone. Did you do a professional job? Did you take on a challenge? Did you provide good information? Did you use good sources?

Due Date You will have 2 classes to work on this, Wed &Thursday It is due on May 7 th. VALUE: 30 MARKS
