Involvement = Success Now & Later!

Here’s the bad news… According to numerous studies and research, students who are not involved in extracurricular activities are at significantly higher risk for: DROPPING OUT BEING INVOLVED WITH DRUGS & ALCOHOL BEING ARRESTED BECOMING TEEN PARENTS

 According to the University of Michigan, teens who are involved in activities during high school are more likely than teens who didn’t participate in any organized activities to have higher grades as high school seniors and to still be in college six years later (Swanbrow 1). These results were produced at the University of Michigan by tracking 1,259 sophomores for six years.  LET’S HEAR FROM AN EXPERT IN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS… Here’s the GOOD NEWS!

Now, let’s listen to how these Cal Berkeley students get involved.

 Do you have a paying job or regular volunteer commitment outside of school and want to see if you can get high school credit for it?  If you answered yes, please raise your hand and fill out the form your teacher gives to you.  Another teacher will be contacting you to see if you qualify to earn credit! Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

Take a look at your Getting Involved handout the teacher provides to you and answer the questions on the first page. How can you benefit from getting involved?

Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the other opportunities you can be involved in: Please click on this link to see LC activities:

 START ONE OF YOUR OWN!  Find a sponsor, time & space –  Get it approved through Mr. Norton.  GO FOR IT! Don’t see a club for you?

 Share out with your Seminar class if you are currently involved OR planning to get involved in a club, activity or sport this year. LET’S TALK!
