Tourism Month Launch Established in September 1979 in Spain by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) The objective was to encourage people to travel within their destinations, to raise tourism awareness and to grow domestic travel. At a national level, cabinet took a decision to declare September a tourism month.

Tourism Month Launch Each year National Department of Tourism chooses a province where the national celebration will take place. This amongst the 6 least visited provinces i.e. excluding Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape. World Tourism Day is commemorated on 27 September each year through appropriate events on themes selected by the General Assembly, on the recommendation of WTO's Executive Council. Other than the launch there are many other related activities taking place in the province during the tourism month.

TKZN Objectives To enhance our relationship with the media in order to obtain positive profiling of our destinations and further endorse the Zulu Kingdom brand To promote the diverse tourism experiences the Zulu Kingdom has to offer, thus encouraging travelling, increased length of stay and increase in spending
