Michigan Merit Curriculum Credit in 8 th Grade MS classes that earn credit on high school transcripts: Algebra I French I, German I, Spanish I These courses will count in the TOTAL credits and be calculated in the grade point average. However, students must: Complete a four-credit math sequence in grades Attend high school full-time for eight semesters Earn 23 credits in grades 9-12.

Repeating Classes Students may retake classes for a higher grade. Complete within one year —in the classroom or online. Transcript will reflect BOTH grades. Highest grade earns credit and is calculated in the GPA. Eighth graders who take a high school course and perform poorly? May retake the course in 9 th grade. In this case, the grade earned in 8 th grade will be removed from the transcript.

Academic Center (AC) Freshmen begin HS with Academic Center May request a waiver if earning all A’s. Please request AC. Waiver Request forms should indicate the desired replacement class. Waiver requests are due by February 13. Benefits of Academic Center  Mentor teachers coach students in effective study habits.  AC coordinators monitor missing assignments.  Students may get help with any class as needed. Grades 10-12, students with a grade below a C- in a core class must take an AC.
