Siamese Crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis) By: Jamie Dailey

Habitat prefers slow- moving areas of freshwater swamps, sheltered parts of rivers and streams also found in lakes and rivers, and possibly brackish areas. Southeast Asian

Diet and Science Predominantly fish, but also amphibians, reptiles and possibly small mammals It is on top of the foodchain Males can reach as long as 13 feet, but most individuals do not exceed 9.84 feet.

Reproduce Females lay from 20 to 50 eggs in a mound nest Captive animals have been found to mature at around 10 years. Hatching occurs after around 80 days

Group and Population Size Its current distribution is greatly diminished and fragmented, and remnant populations comprise small numbers of scattered individuals, with very few colonies confirmed to be reproductively active. Today, only 200 Siamese crocodiles exist in the wild due to habitat destruction and hunting.

Endangered Habitat loss, illegal hunting/trade, incidental capture/drowning in fish traps, extremely low and fragmented remaining populations.

Conservation Efforts The CCCP has begun an ex situ breeding program and is initiating mitigation planning which may involve translocation crocodiles to safe sites.

Quiz What's the name of the conservation that’s trying to save the reptiles How many eggs can a female lay How big can the males get Where can you find this reptile What do they eat
