Conference papers in IOP journals Nina Couzin IOP Publishing AAHEP meeting CERN November 2012

IOP Conference Series: open access proceedings Publication in regular journals (J Phys G, CQG, NJP, JInst) Conference papers in IOP journals

Journal of Physics: Conference Series

Fast receipt to publication, 4 to 6 weeks Authors retain copyright Low cost per published article for organisers Peer review managed by organisers Bespoke online peer review management system ReView Online publication, with optional printed copies and/or CDs/memory sticks References hyperlinked and citations tracked Indexed in ISI Web of Science, Compendex, Scopus and other databases Targeted promotion of events through IOP channels Online functionality: altmetrics, semantically related content, unlimited extra multimedia Journal of Physics: Conference Series

HEP volumes and CERN-related or CERN-sponsored events in JPCS: CALOR (Calorimetry in High Energy Physics) 2008, 2010 and 2012 CHEP (Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics) 2007, 2010 and 2012 ACAT2011(Advanced Computing and Analysis Techniques in Physics Research), UK Kruger2012 (Workshop on Discovery Physics at the LHC), South Africa – in press TOP2012 (5th International Workshop on Top Quark Physics), UK – in press Heavy Ion Collisions in the LHC Era, Vietnam – in press Hot Quarks 2012, Puerto Rico – in press Copublications (JPCS and a regular journal) usually operate under one of two models: Plenary papers and selected best papers published in regular journal, and rest of contributions published in Conf Series Regular journal commissions a “conference inspired” special issue (to include the best work from the conference AND some related work not presented at the conference), and Conf Series publishes all other contributions from the conference: e.g. EUCAS (Applied Superconductivity) 2009, 2011, and 2013 (co-publication with Superconductor Science and Technology) SCES (Strongly Correlated Electron Systems) 2010 and 2011 (Co publication with Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter)

Fast receipt to publication, 3 months on average Peer review managed by IOP to the same standard as other regular papers Choice of publishing as a regular paper (subscription access) or on an Open Access basis (APCs apply in the latter case) Liberal Creative Commons licence (CC-BY 3.0) for all ‘gold’ OA papers References hyperlinked and citations tracked Indexed in ISI Web of Science, Compendex, Scopus and other databases Targeted promotion of papers through IOP channels Online functionality: Article Evolution, altmetrics, video abstracts, semantically related content Conference papers in regular IOP journals

Quark Matter 2011—Proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on Ultra- Relativistic Nucleus–Nucleus Collisions (Annecy, France, 23–28 May 2011) J Phys G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, Number 12, December 2011 SQM2009 – International Conference on Strangeness in Quark Matter (Búzios, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 27 September–2 October 2009) J Phys G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, Number 9, September 2010 Conference papers in regular IOP journals

Conference papers in Journal of Instrumentation Community-oriented online-only journal, launched in 2006 and jointly owned by SISSA Medialab and IOP Publishing offering fully peer- reviewed, fast, open-access publication of conference or workshop proceedings at very moderate cost to conference organizers and at no cost to authors Free open access publication is unsustainable in the medium term From 2013, any conference proceedings articles in JINST will be published on the same basis as regular research papers. Authors will be able to choose to publish their articles on an open access basis, using a hybrid open access option Articles published on an open-access basis will be under the CC-BY 3.0 licence IOP Publishing and SISSA Medialab will take revenues from article processing charges fully into account when setting subscription prices for JINST, to ensure that publication costs are not paid for twice, through both subscription and publication charges

Conference papers in Journal of Instrumentation Proceedings published in recent years: 2nd Int. Workshop on Fast Neutron Detectors and Applications (FNDA 2011) 15th International Conference on Laser Aided Plasma Diagnostics (15th LAPD) The 9th International Conference on Position Sensitive Detectors (PSD9) International Workshop on Radiation Imaging Detectors (IWORID 2010, 2011, 2012) Workshop on fast Cherenkov detectors - Photon detection, DIRC design and DAQ (DIRC 2009, 2010, 2011) Topical Workshop on Electronics for Particle Physics (TWEPP 2010, 2011, 2012) International Symposium on Electron Beam Ion Sources and Traps (EBIST2010) Workshop on Intelligent Trackers (WIT2010, 2012) International Conference on Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGD 2009, 2011) The Pixel 2008 Workshop (PIXEL 08) 4th Int. Conference on Imaging Technologies in Biomedical Sciences (ITBS07) 7th Medical Applications of Synchrotron Radiation workshop (MASR2012)
