Objective: Support Existing aerospace and aviation companies by: identifying market opportunities helping industry lower production costs increasing the number of suppliers certified for the aerospace industry Supply Chain Workgroup

Action 1 Support Aerospace and Aviation Company Capacity to Bid on Defense and Commercial Contracts and Connect with Other North Carolina-Based Buyers and Suppliers. Supply Chain Workgroup Action 1 - Database Support Action 2 - Networking Events - Enhanced Fields/Information for Aerospace & Adv Mfg - Conduct Meetings with Current NC-Based Databases to Harmonize - Ensure Military, Commercial, Sub-Orbital and Orbital Aerospace Requirements Included - NC Military Business Center Business Developer Support - Statewide Annual Meeting in Rotating Locations - Semi-Annual or Quarterly Mtgs in Regional Aerospace Clusters - Integrate Congressional Participation - NC Military Business Center Personnel Support

Action 2 Develop Resources for B&I Existing Industry Specialists to Use When Meeting with North Carolina Aerospace Companies Action 1 – Industry Visits Action 2 – Representation at Networking Events - NC Commerce Personnel & Partner Organizations (PTAC, SBTDCs, NC IES, Local EDAs) - Conduct meetings with at least 50 suppliers per year to gauge industry barriers and challenges - Identify holes in current supply chain - Ensure B&I representation at all major NC aerospace networking events - Ensure B&I representation at significant regional and national aerospace and advanced mfg events Supply Chain Workgroup

Action 3 Increase Number of North Carolina Companies With AS9100 Aerospace Certification and Advanced Manufacturing Training Action 1 – Analyze Poor Response to GoldenLeaf Offer to Share Costs Action 2 – Continue Basic Training Classes (NCMBC & Community Colleges) - Zero response to GoldenLeaf AS9100 cost-sharing program - Companies not sold on the need to attain certification - Use networking events and Prime-Tier 1 suppliers to bolster cost- benefits of achieving AS9100 certification - Basic training in defense contracting, lean mfg, aerospace certifications - Work with National Center for Defense Mfg & Machining (NCDMM) to offer advanced mfg and machining courses to NC companies Supply Chain Workgroup

Action 4 Promote Technology Commercialization and Aerospace and Aviation Research and Development Activities at State and Private Universities in North Carolina Action 1 – Database Support - NC Aerospace Initiative (NC State) started database of research and commercialization opportunities - Incorporate database in TASK 1 Action 1 item related to harmonization - Review ReachNC (Bio) and Textile Connect (Materials) to glean best practices for application to aerospace sector Supply Chain Workgroup
