Why does Majorca attract tourists and how can the harmful effects of tourism on the island be reduced? KEY QUESTION: To find out & describe what Majorca’s attractions are; To identify some of the problems caused by tourism; To suggest ways of reducing the harmful effects of tourism. PROBLEM: Our hotel was dirty and noisy: there was nobody to complain to! SOLUTION: New laws controlling hotel building have been passed. They must fit strict limits on size & design How do we reduce overcrowding? How can we protect the environment? How could we improve the quality of holidays? ?
