ACTION PLAN SHAZIA ADIL DA MHS IV MATHEMATICS,GRADE ONE

LONG-TERM GOALS Adopt state of the art teaching techniques to enhance students’ appreciation of mathematics. To sharpen the thinking process of children and enabling them to use mathematical concepts in day to day life.

SHORT-TERM GOALS To enable the child to learn how to put the things together. To enable the child to identify the symbol of addition. To encourage the child to work in groups rather than individually. Focus on the maximum involvement of the student in class discussions.

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES AND TASKS I will motivate the students to use high order thinking through discussions. I will provide more opportunities to practice the concept of addition as much as possible. I will motivate them to show the whole addition process rather than short cuts. I will inculcate mental maths capability in the child by random questioning and encourage prompt answer.

SOLUTIONS TO ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES CHALLENGES : I do not own a computer. I am not allowed to take my students to the computer lab as it is occupied with the senior students most of the time and rest of the time we are facing load-shedding problem. Parents may hesitate as many of them are still not computer literate. May be our centralized system believed that I am taking too long for one topic and will not be able to complete the given syllabus. SOLUTIONS: I will request my management to provide a computer lab for junior classes as well or provide few computers in each section. I will talk to parents when they come for parent teacher meeting that it is the requirement of the new century to have computer literacy. I will ensure my seniors that I will try to complete my syllabus in time but I will make them understand that with the small kids you have to be little bit flexible as sometimes some of the students take relatively more time for one task.
