Microsoft Campus Agreement Current Agreement expires 6/30/2013 Costs: –FY14 costs appear similar for Fac/Staff –FY14 Student Costs: Addition of virtualization will likely add cost –Discussion with WiredOut regarding offset Reviewing full campus desktop option for students Examining SQL and MDOP additions Most departments will not see major changes, except the addition of virtualization for students, and possibly a small reduction in cost or increase in value added.

Microsoft Campus Agreement Negotiating points: –Discount level for MS Select The Select contract includes everything we don’t own through our Campus Agreement –Faculty/Staff pricing, inclusion of MDOP/SQL –Term of deal –BYOD model and how that affects our needs Related, number of student installations iPads/Android tablets –RDS (formerly Terminal Server) –Retaining departmental CA’s (Visio, Project, etc.)

Microsoft Product Upgrades Added Project 2013 and Visio 2013 to OCIO Self Service ( –Available to SLSC’s –Not on campus agreement, order licenses through Insight SCCM SP1 – includes Mac management –In testing, preparing for update –Includes SC Endpoint Protection SP1, new virusscan product for Win/Mac/Linux

JMP Renewal Added Genomics to site-wide license (use in Children’s Hospital) Codes available via Self Service –Like SAS, due to the number of versions, all versions are included JMP 10 downloaded and in testing –OCIO added a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) module Requires installation of SAS Consider as a potential replacement for SPSS AMOS Codes hard-fail Mar 1, 2013, so update soon

SAS Renewal Codes have arrived and been in distribution since early December –Due to the number of versions, we are providing all codes to all users who request them

Buckeye Box Box.Net is the product of choice for cloud storage and collaboration – provides much of the information neededhttp://box.osu.edu/ –Available apps for iOS/Android/Blackberry –Buckeye Box is FERPA compliant No Restricted Data (there is no cloud service where restricted data may be uploaded) Please encourage use of this tool over other cloud storage options (Dropbox, Google Docs, SkyDrive, etc.)

Adobe Connect CarmenConnect is the Adobe Connect implementation for Ohio State –Allows creation of meetings, seminars, discussions, etc. that can be accessed remotely, including one-on-one tutoring –Hosted locally, the University owns 2,000 concurrent seats Request accounts and find more detail at connect/ connect/

McAfee End of Life OCIO and OSUWMC have agreed to retire McAfee before September 2013 Current recommended alternatives include Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (formerly Forefront) on all platforms.
