Absolute location: N, E Oman is surrounded by U.A.E, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia Oman is Central Desert plain, with bumpy mountains in the north and south. There is some beach pollution. It’s hot and desert like. It’s also very humid along the coasts.

Oman sometimes has sandstorms. Oman is also surrounded by the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman, and the Persian Gulf. In Oman there is 212,460 sq km. There are also lots of natural resources like petroleum, copper, and limestone. This is a map of Oman. The capital is Muscat.

Females only go to school for 11 years while boys go 12. There are 137 airports in Oman but only 7 have paved roads. There is absolutely no water in Oman. In Oman you have to get permission to marry someone out of the country. Some popular sports in Oman are camel and horse racing,and bullfighting. This is a picture of Oman. As you can see there isn’t any water.

Oman’s government is a monarchy. Oman is divided into 8 administrative regions, which then are subdivided into 59 districts. Each part is governed by a Wail, which is like a governor. The person that is currently in charge is Sultan Qaboos. This is a picture of Oman’s leader Sultan Qaboos

Oman believes in two religions Islam 75% and Sunni Muslims 25%. Oman’s official language is Arabic. One holiday Oman celebrates is National Day on Nov. 18 th. In Oman clothing styles are different. Men usually wear: A Dishdasha A Farakh or Kashkusha A Kumma Schoolboys typically would wear a Dishdasha and a Kumma. This is a picture of Oman schoolboys and how they dress.

Oman women wear: A loosely fitted dress that extends below the knees Baggy trousers A Lahaf Some women especially among the Desert of Bedouin cover their faces with a Burqa which is like a mask or veil. Oman school girls typically wear: Long white pants Brown or blue tunics White head scarves

Sultan Taimur had been removed from office in 1970 by his son Sultan Qaboos. In 1970 Oman only had three schools, two hospitals, and really no paved roads. In 1997 Sultan introduced political reforms. In that year women were allowed to vote. In 2002 Sultan let any one 21 years or older be allowed to vote. This is a picture of what Oman looks like today because Sultan helped make it a better place to live.

It is a developed country. 150% of the people have a car There are 532 TV's per 1,000 people The average person makes 20,400 dollars a year. Most people live to almost 74 years. 2.15% of people in Oman work in agriculture while 37.2% work in industry. This is a picture of what Oman money looks like.
