Presentation transcript:

Jonas’ community is perfect. There is no war, no sickness, no pain, and everything is under control. Step out of line and you will be released. When you turn twelve you receive and assignment for the rest of your life until you become an elder. It’s the day of the assignments and something very rare happens to Jonas. He gets the Assignment of Receiver of Memory which requires him to hold all the memories of pain and pleasure of the past. After a while the Giver sends Jonas to find what is outside of his Community. He takes Gabriel with him who Jonas knew could receive memories. Will Jonas and Gabriel live? Read to find out.

The author of this book is Lois Lowry When Jonas turns twelve he is skipped in the Ceremony of the Twelve’s. He receives the job of the Receiver of Memory. He receives special training for his new job. His job is very painful but can also be very soothing. The Giver alone holds the Memories of pain and pleasure in life. There are 4 books in the Giver quartet. It is recommend reading them after you read the Giver.
