STAAR Question du jour Fact or Fib “Then he began to hear sounds. Peculiar sounds. Like animals under the earth.” The author uses personification to help you visualize the experience Tito had when he awoke to the eruption of the volcano.

CW: Characterization Describe THREE items you need to have as part of your character’s appearance (costume). Describe TWO important character traits you need your audience to see or hear. Describe ONE prop that you will bring to character night.

Jo March of Little Women Three items I need as part of Jo’s appearance are a long skirt, a high-collared shirt, and a worn-out shawl. Jo was alive in the 1860s when woman dressed very modestly, keeping much of their body covered. The worn-out shawl represents the hard times her family goes through during the Civil War. The audience needs to know that Jo is rebellious and creative. She doesn’t like being told what to do or “acting like a lady.” She loves to write stories and plays. An important prop I will need to have on character night is a composition book. This will represent her love of writing.
