All About Sloths By Lucee Mikek

Why I picked It  I picked sloths because they are so cute and adorable.

Background  Sloths are mammals and sloths can live around 25 or 30 years. Sloths are also herbivores and are related to anteaters.

Adaptations  Sloths have long claws that help them climb trees but it is harder to walk on the ground. Sloths are built for life in the trees that is because their arms are longer than their legs.

Diet/habitat  Sloths live in Central and South America and sloths eat Cecropia leaves and also eat buds, tender shoots, and leaves.

Characteristics SSloths color is brown but because of the algae it mostly looks green. Sloths have tiny ears and can raise their young while hanging up- side down in trees.

Fun facts  Sloths sleep 15 or 20 hours a day. They are arboreal which means they spend their time in trees. It takes sloths almost a month to digest their food.

Extra notes  There are two kinds of sloths the three-toed sloths and two-toed sloths. The length of a sloth is feet.

More information MMost sloths are about the size of a small dog and have short, flat heads. Sloths predators are eagles, snakes, and jaguars.

One more thing  Some sloths stay in the same tree for years and sloths are clumsy on land but are very good swimmers. The scientific name for a sloth is Bradypus Variegatus

You most know  When sloths die on a branch they still have their grip. Sloths are also related to armadillos. The speed of a sloth is two meters per minute.

Endangered sloths  Humans are endangering to sloths because they cut down their tropical rain forest trees and if the sloths don’t have any trees they won’t have shelter, food sources and hiding from predators.

conclusion  We can save sloths by not cutting down tropical rain forest trees. This is what I learned from learning about sloths.
