  “-ism” means practice or belief in  During the Industrial Revolution 7 prominent ideologies (-isms) developed:  Communism  Socialism  Liberalism  Romanticism  Realism  Capitalism  Utilitarianism “-isms”

  You are each assigned one ideology  Use your graphic organizer to store your information about your ideology  I have given you a resource sheet for each ideology, use those terms & people as your starting point  Fill out each box of your graphic organizer with enough info. to show your understanding of the “-ism”  Use the textbook as a starting place but you will also use the references provided  (If you want to use another website not provided for research clear it with me first) Steps

  You will be matched up with others who share your “-ism”/ideology  Together you will create a poster version of a Facebook page for your ideology (see template handout)  On Monday we will have a gallery walk to share ideologies and “comment” on them.  Your entrance ticket to participate in your group project is a completed graphic organizer Final Product

  Use your reference guide to find a definition of your “-ism” in the textbook  Define the other textbook terms & people  Once you have this information checked off by me you will get a laptop and begin researching online.  Visit the websites provided & take notes on the information  What quotes are there about your ideology?  Were any books written about it? Art created about it?  What beliefs support your ideology?  How would members of different social classes feel about it? Step One

  You will work with your group to:  Review your term.  What does it mean?  Where did it start?  Who was involved?  Create a plan – who is responsible for each part of the Facebook page? Tomorrow

  First ½ of class you will finish your independent research  The second ½ of class you will meet with your group. You must assign roles & each person will be responsible for one part of the Facebook page : “Philosophy” person “Arts & Entertainment” person + images “Activities & Interests” person “Basic Info.” person  Gather your materials – pictures & information – to your entire group in case you’re gone Monday Today

  Write your name on your comment slips  You will view each Ideology Facebook page before leaving any comments  You will then choose 4 pages (Ideologies) you want to comment on  Your comments must engage with the Ideology by doing at least one of these things:  Comparing or contrasting your Ideology with the one you are viewing and explaining your choice  Make a connection to yourself-personal beliefs  Make a connection to the world – how do you see this ideology in the world now?  Make a connection to something we have already learned in class  Post your comment on the wall before moving on Gallery Walk
