February 1, 2012 Homework  Spelling pg 166  Vocabulary pg 103  Spelling/Vocabulary quiz Friday  Grammar pg Exercise 1 and 2  Test very soon DO Now  Grammar pg

Clause Review  2 types: Independent and subordinate  Subordinate: Adjective, Adverb, Noun

How to find Adjective Clause  Look for Relative Pronoun or Relative Adverb  If the word before the relative pronoun is a noun or pronoun, the clause is most likely an adjective clause.

How to find an Adverb Clause  Look for a Subordinating Conjunction  If the word before the Subordinating conjunction is a verb, adjective or adverb the clause is most likely an Adverb clause.  If a clause begins a sentence and is followed by a comma it is an adverb clause modifying the verb  ***Adverb clauses tells where, when, how, why, to what extent***

How to determine if a clause is a Noun Clause?  You must figure out how it functions in a sentence. If the clause is a subject, DO, IO, PN, or OP you have a noun clause.  If a clause begins a sentence and Is not followed by a comma it is a noun clause
