4 History 1988 – Florida Legislature enacted the Solid Waste Management Act and created the Solid Waste Management Trust Fund February 20, Orange County BCC adopted three- phase recycling plan
5 History July Recycling bins delivered to 120,000 households
6 August 1, 1990 – Curbside collection began and Orange County Materials Recovery Facility opened 64.5 tons of recyclables processed on the first day Facility averaged 80 tons per day History
Processing facility upgraded with new equipment and ability to process single-stream materials Facility can process 20 tons per hour History
