Cognitive Play: Lateral Thinking

This type of thinking is sometimes referred to as “Thinking outside the box”. Lateral thinking challenges preconceptions, assumptions, and conclusions.

What assumptions did you make initially? How did that assumption prevent you from seeing the solution?

What word in the text leads you to draw the wrong conclusion? Why is this a lateral thinking puzzle?

What assumption might people make when reading this text? How might you re-write the text to make it more precise?
