Presentation transcript:

 Chimpanzees are warm-blooded, they are mammals.  They have long arms and short bodies.  They have long black hair.  They grow to be four feet tall, as adults.  They can weigh between lbs.  They have a lifespan of 45 years in the wild.  They have humanlike behavior and are really smart.

 Chimpanzees live in Western and Central Africa.  They live in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.  They live in tropical areas of Africa, in the Rain Forests.  They mostly live in the tops of trees.  They eat in the tops of trees.  They sleep in the tops of trees.  They make nests out of leaves and other tree materials, in the tops of trees.

 Chimpanzees are omnivorous, meaning they eat whatever is available, mostly plants.  They also eat bugs, fruit, nuts and insects.  They use rocks as hammers to crack open nuts to eat.  They use sticks to dig out bugs.  They use leaves to soak up water to drink.  They, at times, eat smaller animals, like small monkeys.  Chimpanzees are often preyed on by leopards and human poachers.

 A female Chimpanzee gives birth to a baby Chimpanzee, not an egg.  A female gives birth to only one baby at a time, twins are rare.  A mother carries her baby every where she goes, clinging to her, until the age two.  Chimpanzees have a strong bond, especially between mother and child, which can easily last seven years, after birth.  Females reach reproductive age at 13.  Males are not considered adults until age 16.

 I wonder how more people can help preserve their natural habitats, the Rain Forests? (Answer: By researching and educating people about the importance of not cutting down or clearing the Rain Forests.)  I wonder how Chimpanzees can safely be pets? ( Answer: I guess this has to carefully investigated and monitored.)
