Wars Wars  In 1923 an earthquake struck the Tokyo- Yokohama area. The earthquake and the fires and tsunami that followed caused about 143,000 deaths and destroyed large areas of the to cities.  Japan began a war with China. The fighting became part of WWII.

War Conti.  In the beginning of WWII the Japan started out with the Fubuki.  December 7, 1941 Japanese bombers attacked the U.S. military bases at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  The U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrendered to the Allies and the Allied occupation of Japan began. It lasted until 1953.
