Rights Respecting Schools Thursday 22 nd January

The world is big and it has a lot of people living in it.

UNICEF is a charity. It helps children in different parts of the world.

We are lucky! We have great staff and a fantastic new school. We have clean water. We have lots of food. We have somewhere to live and a bed to sleep in each night. Not every child in the world has this.

Some children don't have clean water or a meal each day Some children cannot go to school because they have to work from a very young age Others may be living in danger because of war or poverty Some children do not have a safe place to live Others become ill and their parents do not have enough money to make them better Even in this country some children do not have very happy lives. Many children in other countries don't have access to the things we take for granted.

UNICEF - United Nations Children's Fund helps children around the world by following the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is a list of all the different things that every child around the world needs and should have in order to live a happy and healthy life. How does UNICEF help them?

What things do you think every child should have?

Have access to clean water and nutritious food Every child should:

Have access to clean water and nutritious food Every child should: Be able to attend school

Have access to clean water and nutritious food Every child should: Be able to attend school Be protected from harm

Have access to clean water and nutritious food Every child should: Be able to attend school Be protected from harm Have a safe place to live

These are the rights of every child. They apply to all children under the age of 18 regardless of who they are or where they are from. Have access to clean water and nutritious food Every child should: Be able to attend school Be protected from harm Have a safe place to live
