Pesticide applicators applying restricted use pesticides on land they own, rent or lease within tribal boundaries must have in their possession: a Montana private applicator license EPA pesticide certification card Tribal applicators will need to fill out the tribal pesticide request form. No fee.
Private applicator will need send the request form with a copy of their Montana Private Applicator License (both sides) to EPA: US EPA, Region 8 Attn: Region 8 Certification 1595 Wynkoop St, 8P-P3T Denver, CO 80202
Based on a 5 year cycle Prorated Amounts 1 st year - $50 2 nd year – $40 3 rd year - $30 4 th year - $20 5 th year - $10
Certification Period January 1 st 2011 – December 31 st Pro-rating of fees: If you reside in region 3 and are initially certified within 2015 then the fee is $10. On January 1 st, 2016 the region 3 applicator will need to pay another $50 for the next 5 year cycle.

Need to obtain 6 private applicator recertification credits prior to your regions deadline. This is waived if you are certified in the last year of the cycle Applicators will be pro-rated 3 private applicator recertification credits if they become certified after the middle of their certification cycle. Online Credits Available online at by selecting ‘Private’ and ‘Online Credits’. You can accumulate 2 recertification credits by taking the online quizzes (10 questions each) Instructions & prices vary (PEP exams are $10 each) Closed Book Exam You may take the closed book exam in the last year of the cycle to qualify for recertification (pass with >70%)

Must take a closed book Montana Private Applicator Certification Exam during the recertification year (6th year), and answer 70% of the questions correctly Or attend a 6 h initial certification course and take the ungraded quiz. Or wait 12 months and re-qualify with an open book graded exam
All applicators must have a copy of the: EPA core manual Montana addendum Must fill out the farm applicator permit form. Must send form to MDA with the appropriate fee.
