Unit 12 Additional Evidence catelyn

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. For the business card, I included the name of the company (New Tech), the logo, address, phone number and what the business specialises in which is labelled as ‘designer’ because the company design new phones and devices. The colour for the business card is bright blue, the purpose of this is because the bright colour will be eye catching to people, the layout of the information has been done that way to give the card a professional and organised look. The contact details were added so that people can and call our company to find out more about are new company and were our stores are.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. In the letter, I included the name of the company, the logo, contact and address details and kept the colour the same as the business card which is bright blue because the colour is eye catching and costumers will be more likely to pick up and look at the letter meaning they will be interested in buying our devices. The layout for the letter and the business card are similar, this makes are company look organised and professional to costumers meaning they will be interested in wanting to come to the shops to but new devices.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. When creating the Newsletter, a lot of information was needed to make it look organised and eye catching and because my company is named ‘New tech’ I had to find certain articles that related to the theme that the company is aiming for. A lot of information was needed including the name of the company, articles, colour scheme (light blue), images to match the articles, a logo and on the last page was some information about our new company and a website to find out more information about the company on the web (Newtech.com) the purpose of this is so that more customers will be interested and our company will grow bigger, the colour scheme is light blue again because this is eye catching and customers will most likely buy and read our newsletter.

1.2 I can describe how to change page design and layout to increase effectiveness of a publication. I have kept the design and layout for the business card and newsletter, this looks more professional and simple whereas if I was to change the layout and colour for the business card and keep the newsletter the same, it wouldn’t look as professional and the colours would be confusing, for example: The colour red doesn’t make sense and doesn’t look simple and professional compared to the blue business card which matches the newsletter. There was a range of newsletter styles and I had chose a certain layout that looked most organised while at the same time, fun and interesting to read.

2.3 Describe how copyright constraints affect use of own and others’ information. Copyright is used to protect things that people have done so that others can’t say they made a certain thing that is someone else's. If someone wants to use something which belongs to someone else, they should ask for permission and if the person says yes they can use it, however sometimes the person has to pay a certain amount of money to use it or they might say no. I’ve used articles that aren’t mine in my newsletter however I have added the link to the article from the website I got it from, also my logo I created it using vista print and added the website link of where I created It from, the fact that I added the link shows I was following copyright and that I know what copyright is.

2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images..PUB – Publisher Loads of templates so you can create and make things on..PDF – (portable document format) -Is a way of saving your file so that other people and you can view it. Preserves document formatting and enables file sharing. To view a PDF file you need Adobe Reader..JPEG/.JPG – Joint photographic experts group. If you are using a powerful image processing software. you can very the compression, lower compression produces an image with a higher quality. JPEG, works well when compressing full colour or grayscale images..PNG – Portable Network Graphics. PNG files are not the best files for webpages as they are larger in size. PNG is a great format if you need an image with little compression and a transparent layer..PSD – Photoshop document. Since a PSD file is native to Adobe Photoshop, you can use it to open it and edit it. You can also download applications to your computer for use offline..TIFF – Tagged image file. Tiff are often big files, you can compress them to a Jpeg file to make it smaller. Tuff cannot be any larger then 4 Gb. People can send tiff’s having to worry about the recipient and not being able to view it. Tiff files do not use compression.

Publisher is a type of software used to create posters, newsletters and business cards using a certain template from publisher to design it. If someone creates something using publisher and sends it to someone else who doesn't have the software, they won’t be able to open it, this can be avoided if they save the publisher file as a PDF, PDF files are useful because you don’t need a specific software to open the file. This can be useful if someone needs to view what has been sent to them because it is a good option rather then downloading a new software, PDF makes it much more easier to view saved files. If an image file is created using Photoshop and someone does not have Photoshop, then they can save the file as a range of images. These images types are PNG, JPEG and TIFF. There are a few differences between these types of images, these are good for saving good quality images, for maybe printing and if you have a poor image that is bad quality, the file size would be smaller than the size for the good quality image that someone might want to print. In my work, I saved my logo as a PNG file because it means it is good quality and has a transparent background meaning it is useful for pasting on anything. 2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images.
