Warm-Up1/20 1)Draw an angle whose measure is 47° then construct an angle whose measure is congruent to the angle that you drew. 2)Find m ∠ ACT if A lies in the interior of ∠ DCT and m ∠ DCT = 164° and m ∠ DCA = 89°.

4.5 Triangles and Quadrilaterals

Triangles A triangle triangle is a simple closed curve composed of three line segments. A scalene is a triangle whose sides are all different lengths. An isosceles is a triangle that has two sides that are the same length. An equilateral is a triangle whose sides are all equal length.

Triangles An acute is a triangle with three acute angles. A right is a triangle with a right angle. An obtuse is a triangle with an obtuse angle. Ex’s of sketches of these triangles and legs, base angles, base and hypotenuse

Quadrilaterals A quadrilateral quadrilateral is a simple closed curve that is the union of four coplanar line segments. A trapezoid trapezoid is a quadrilateral with at least one set of parallel line segments. A parallelogram parallelogram is a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are parallel. A rectangle rectangle is a parallelogram whose sides form right angles. A rhombus rhombus is a parallelogram whose sides are equal length. A square square is a rhombus whose sides form right angles.

Parts of Quadrilaterals Opposite sides Consecutive sides Opposite angles Consecutive angles

Assignment (Due Thursday) You must take a picture or bring an example of the following three things: 1) A scalene triangle 2) An isosceles triangle that is not an equilateral triangle 3) An equilateral triangle.

Assignment (Due Thursday) You must take a picture or bring an example of the following 5 things: 1) A quadrilateral that is not a parallelogram 2) A trapezoid that is not a parallelogram 3) A rectangle that is not a square 4) A rhombus that is not a square 5) A square.

Warm-Up1/22 1)Draw an angle with degree measure of 37°. Now construct an angle that is congruent to this angle. 2)Sketch the following a)A square b)Two angles that are acute and not congruent. c)A rhombus that is not a square. d)Two angles that are obtuse and congruent.

Group Work Task: Create a Venn Diagram of the quadrilaterals. Example: Since all equilateral triangles would be isosceles triangles we would draw an equilateral triangle inside of an isosceles triangle.

Warm-Up1/23 1)Draw an angle with degree measure of 114°. Now construct an angle that is congruent to this angle. 2)Sketch the following a)A rectangle that is not a square. b)Two angles that are obtuse and not congruent. c)A rhombus that is a rectangle. d)Two angles that are not a linear pair but are supplementary.

Announcements1/23 We will take CM #19.5 on Constructing Congruent Angles. Unit test on Thursday and Friday of next week. We will do retakes on Thursday and Friday of next week. I will hand out a test review next Monday. HW’s with no name currently have a zero. HW’s with no score currently have a zero,

Warm-Up/Review 1/26 1)Draw a line segment that is 3 inches long. Construct a segment bisector. 2)Sketch a Venn diagram of the quadrilaterals. 3)Sketch the following with the correct notation: a)Vertical angles b)Linear pair that are not congruent c)Supplementary angles that are not a linear pair.
