PARTS OF A SENTENCE Subjects, Predicates, Direct Objects, Indirect Objects

SUBJECTS Who or what the sentence is about The man in the vest is my teacher. After lunch, the class will take the test.

PREDICATES What the subject is doing or what the subject is The man in the vest is my teacher. After lunch, the class will take the test.

Direct Objects Receives the action of the verb Find the verb and ask “who?” or “what?” The boy hit the ball. John found me in the morning.

Indirect Objects Receives the action of the verb Find the verb and ask “to whom?” “to what?” “for whom?” or “for what?” Josh sent me a package. We asked the teacher for a note.
