Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - Introduction The largest University in Greece but also in Southeastern Europe – Founded in 1925 – Students – Academic staff (teaching – research) – Technical and administrative staff – 13 Faculties, 42 Departments Vast infrastructure, scientific equipment, sophisticated data and voice networks of high technological added value 2

Research Areas Carries out RTD Projects in the scientific areas of: – environment – informatics – telecommunications – technologies for industry – transport – biotechnology – biomedicine and health – agriculture, forestry and fisheries – education and languages – history and archaeology – social and economic sciences 3

Research Committee - Projects During the last 3-years: Implementation of RTD projects Collaboration with partners Participation of: – members of the teaching and research staff – external associates – a large number of under/postgraduate students Overall budget up to 150 million euros Average annual turnover 50 million euros 4

Academic researchers of AUTH participate at a 50% in research activities and originate as a matter of priority from – Technological Sciences – Applied Sciences – Humanities External researchers that participate in projects are four times more in number Research Strategy Formulation 5

The Research Vision of the university is to increase the Excellence and its Quality Features, in order to be distinguished in the South East Europe area until 2015 Research Strategy Formulation 6
