Sea Floor Spreading  Harry Hess created the theory of sea-floor spreading  The theory states the following: -The sea floor spreads apart along both sides of a mid- ocean ridge (under water mountain chain) as new crust rises up from the mantle. -The ocean floors carry the continents along with them. -This is an example of a divergent boundary.
