Tower sites consume large quantities of power. Most tower owners supply power to tenants through sub-meters. This sub-metered electricity represents non-revenue dollars. Sub-metered electricity is actually sold at a loss when the overhead of meter reading and billing is considered. A solar photovoltaic (PV) system can transform this expense into a reliable profit stream. Why become a GREEN tower site?

GANG METERS N Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Energy System Model

The BENEFITS of PV Facilities at Tower Sites Attractive returns on invested capital An enhanced and deepened site owner/tenant relationship A reliable hedge against energy price increases “Green” marketing leadership in the wireless industry Flexible expansion if customer needs change Back-up power in black outs (with added storage capacity)

The CHALLENGES of PV Facilities at Tower Sites Solar incentives vary state-by-state High upfront investment for capital project 20 year project life requires comprehensive feasibility analysis and project planning

…. Tower Sites That Make Good Solar Candidates Have multiple co-locators Have control of the property Have access to the solar resource Are located in a state with good incentives

…. Power Supply Parameters 22 kW per Carrier 100% power reliability- Grid Connected Off-Site Power: Power Purchase Agreements (BBB+ rating) On Site Power: Net Metering for Excess Power Supply Optimal Technology for geographic location: solar vs. wind
