The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 Good Things Happen When We All Pull Together The World of Transport

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 What is GSA? The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) is an international trade association that benefits gaming manufacturers, suppliers, operators, and regulators. GSA facilitates the identification, definition, development, promotion, and implementation of open standards to enable innovation, education, and communication for the benefit of the entire industry.

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 Defining Transport The Transport Committee is charged with defining, identifying and developing a set of transport standards, independent of the message standards, to provide message delivery for GSA messaging protocols such as G2S, S2S and providing documentation to support implementation and certification.

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 Current Challenges  WSDL definitions for S2S and G2S Messaging Protocols  GSA Multicast Transport Protocol  GSA Point-to-Point SOAP/HTTPS Transport and Security Specification

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 GSA Multicast Transport Protocol  Multicast Transport Protocol v1.0.7 Errata released in September 2006  Sends XML-based Messaging Protocol messages (i.e. G2S or S2S messages) to multiple receivers at the same time  Messages are sent over an IP Network.  UDP configured using IGMPv2.0 (Internet Group Management Protocol) is used as the base network and transport layers.  Messages that can be multicasted are identified in the G2S and S2S Messaging protocols.

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 GSA Point-to-Point SOAP/HTTPS Transport and Security Specification  To be released for membership comment in November 2006  Used to send G2S or S2S messages between host systems and/or gaming devices.  Uses SOAP/HTTP over an IP Network.  Transport Layer Security (TLS) is used for authentication and securing the communication.  The Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) and the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) provide the basis for the certificate management functions.  DHCP is used for providing dynamic IP addressing, gateway locations, DNS servers and vendor specific information.  Requires that hosts and gaming devices support Domain Name System (DNS) and Network Time Protocol (NTP).

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 The Future  Implementer’s Guides and Frequently Asked Questions documents  Compliance Certification and Testing

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 Benefits of a Standard  Interoperability  Standardized transport methods allow use of “off the shelf” development tools  Manufacturers can focus on content rather than communications  Third party tools become viable  Test Suites - Ensure the protocol has been properly implemented  Latency Testers - Automatically check response time every X minutes, send an if there’s a problem  Regression Testers - retest everything every time there’s a build  Available to Manufacturers, Test Labs, or Operators

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 Where do I Get the Transport Standard?  All GSA standards can be obtained at (The GSA Point-to-Point SOAP/HTTPS Transport and Security Specification will be downloadable from this location once it is released)  The Multicast Transport Protocol v1.0.7 Package can be downloaded at: Multicast v1.0.7.zip

The Year of Implementation and Value Creation!Global Gaming Expo 2006 The Ending Note  For on-going questions or inquires on protocols, please contact  This presentation is available on GSA’s Website: [Now is the perfect time for questions or comments]
