Workforce Development Services Work readiness & work-based learning Regional collaboration & scalability Partnership: Colleges & High Schools Employers Workforce Investment Boards

Career Catalyst Employer-of-record Service Simplifies hosting of internships, including, workers’ comp, human resources, onboarding, benefits, etc. Frees time and resources for employers to focus on providing the learning experience and on talent pipeline development. More than 3,500 students have been placed through the Foundation’s services since 1998.

Digital Skill Badging Digital badges identify and acknowledge specific competencies and accomplishments LaunchPath allows students, employers, and schools to earn and award digital badges

LaunchPath Overview Online tool that connects HS and CC students with internships Serves employers, students, & schools/colleges Funded by JP Morgan Chase Partnered with Linked Learning Alliance

Before we go any further: costs Through grant funding LaunchPath is free to use until 7/1/2016. What happens after July 1, 2016? Scenario 1: Foundation finds additional underwriting and use is free Scenario 2: CCCCO decides to include as a statewide service Scenario 3: Foundation charges a fee for colleges, schools and/or employers to use LaunchPath How much?

Why LaunchPath? Built to support regional collaboration Coordinated employer outreach Alignment with CCCCO data collection efforts Data collected on employer needs and student skill acquisition will lead to: Improvements in demonstrating impact Enhanced program design

LaunchPath Toolkit Resource to help employers design the best internship experience for their organization. Before the Internship: Secure institutional support for work-based learning Design quality internship experiences Address legal concerns During the Internship: Manage interns After the Internship: Assess impact and improvements

Assumptions at the beginning of LaunchPath If: The California Career Pathway Trust and WIOA would generate significant supply of students and youth seeking work based learning; and, Employers in key sectors are suffering from a lack of qualified workers, and work based learning is solution to building their pipeline; and, Regions are how labor markets operate and how funding is being allocated, Then: A regional platform connecting employers with those seeking work based learning will provide great value to many partners.

LaunchPath Dashboard After 9 months of Launchpath being live and after 18 months of designing, developing, promotion and outreach: 50 Employers 52 postings (8 HS, 37 College, 7 Either) 182 Students 81 HS and 101 Community College (Los Rios and Feather River) 25 Internship Matches
