A supernatural being, the opposite of God, a personification of evil.

Devil, called Lucifer (Morning Star), used to be an angel who, along with one-third of the angelic host (the demons) rebelled against God and was consequently condemned to Hell. He is described as hating all humanity, or more accurately creation, opposing God, spreading lies and wreaking havoc on the souls of mankind.

The Devil in the form of a snake, also tempts Eve to disobey God by eating from the Tree of Knowledge, thus bringing sin to the World.

The Devil tempted Jesus at the start of his ministry, trying to corrupt him with wealth, power and protection from physical harm.
