By the P.7 class of 2011

Our idea is to run a healthy eating tuck shop in our school at break time. It is to promote the healthy eating policy in the school.

What we would like to sell We would like to sell things such as Fruit bags Apples Bananas Oranges Strawberries Kiwi Grapes Pears Smoothes Sandwiches

How did we come up with the idea? We came up with the idea of a tuck shop by the whole class brain storming our ideas together and then thinking about whether or not the ideas would work out. So in the end we had 2 possible ideas left, which was a tuck shop and a smoothes stand and we combined the 2 ideas together to make a tuck shop that sells smoothies.

Getting Started We asked the children in the school what they thought of our idea- they really liked it We got permission from the principal, Mrs Doherty to start our business. We sent a letter home to parents to let them know of our plan

We asked each class what kind of fruits they would like to buy.

The letter to parents Dear Parents and Guardians The P.7 class are planning to open a healthy eating tuck shop tomorrow at school this shop will be open all year round at break times. At 09:00 we will go to every class and take their order then at 10:20 we will deliver their orders. To start us off this what we going to sell ……………….. Portion Strawberries –20p Oranges –20p Apples-20p

The First Day We prepared the fruit We went around each class and took orders We sold out of strawberries in no time We had to run to the shop to get more From this we learned that strawberries were too expensive so we save these as a Friday treat

How well have we done? We borrowed £30 to start our business. Week 1 we spent £30 we made £30 Week 2 we spent £25 we made £35 Week 3 we spent £30 we made £35 Week 4 we spent £30 we made £40 Week 5 we spent £30 we made £40 In total we have spent £145 and made £180

What we want to do next… Improve our marketing Make an advertisement for the television at the front of the school Train the P6 class to continue our business Bring in new ideas for Friday treats
