Goals:  I can describe characteristics of the Earth’s three layers.  I can recognize that plates move continually at a rate of centimeters per year.  I can describe the relationship between plate movements and earthquakes, mountain building, volcanoes, and sea-floor spreading.  I can evaluate the impact of man’s use of earth’s land, water, and atmospheric resources.

Have you ever looked at a map of the world and noticed how the coastlines on opposite sides of the oceans appear to fit together like the pieces of a puzzle? Do you think it is just a coincidence?
