ALTERNATE K-PREP District Checklist for Alternate Assessment and Accountability Folder (AAAF)

Purpose To aid in the monitoring process for: – Track progress of the Alternate Assessment and Accountability Folder (AAAF) – Attainment Tasks Administration The monitoring includes completion of one checklist per teacher; and physical observations of the teacher at least one time during one of the testing windows.

When to Check January 22-February 22/Test Window 1 April 8-May 24/Test Window 2 Districts should choose at least one of these windows/may choose more than one

Checklist Complete one checklist per teacher verifying that the teacher has complete documentation in all of the AAAF Folders for students on their caseload. If problems (mistakes or errors) are found make sure teacher has corrected any issues before signing off on their checklist. Problems/errors can be reported in the Notes/Comments section of the checklist. If you feel that an error is a testing violation please contact your District Assessment Coordinator for further instructions.

Physical Monitoring Monitoring should occur during the assessment window chosen. It is recommended that every teacher be observed at least one time administering an Attainment Task to one student. It is not required to view the entire administration, but focus on students receiving accommodations and appropriate practices.

Who can Monitor The individual(s) chosen to complete the monitoring process is a district decision. Those that could monitor: DAC DoSE BAC District Alternate Assessment Coordinator (if your district has one in place) Principal Guidance Counselor Teachers should not complete the monitoring process

While Observing Make sure that your presence is not creating a distraction for the student being assessed. It is not necessary to be present at the same table where the assessment is being administered. Ask the teacher where they recommend you observe from.

What to Look For (Folder) Verify the following documents in the AAAF Folder: Certificate for Attainment Tasks Quiz Completion Teacher Code of Ethics Monitor test administration in a one-to-one setting with at least one student and a minimum of at least one content area. Continued on following slide

What to Look For (Observation) As monitoring occurs; verify that appropriate accommodations have been given (those listed on the Student Information Page) see Components of the AAAF Requirements.pdf Requirements.pdf Review Sections 1 and 2 of the AAAF to verify that 1 work sample was provided for each standard represented during this testing window. (see Alternate K-PREP Resources for testing windows and grade requirements) esources.aspx esources.aspx

What to Look For (Observation) Also if adaptations were made to the Attainment Tasks an Attainment Tasks Support Worksheet should be included with the type of adaptations that were made. These documents are only required if changes to the tasks were made. The following slides identify some adaptations that could be made, but are not limited to these lists alone.

Possible Adaptations Made The student uses picture symbols. If there is a symbol that the student has been using which is different than the one provided with the test, it is acceptable to exchange it. Replace this symbol with this symbol.

Possible Adaptations Made

Comments and Signatures Anything found that those monitoring feel should be identified please provide in the comments section of the checklist. These comments may apply to all AAAF Folders completed by one teacher. Reminder; if there is something that the monitor feels could be a testing violation, they should immediately report that information to their District Assessment Coordinator. Signatures should be obtained from the teacher and those who complete the monitoring process.

Where to Store Checklists District Decision- – Secure location – These checklists should not be stored with the AAAF. The folders represent the student, the checklists monitor the teachers work with the student.

KDE Monitoring Random audits will occur in the spring of the year by representatives in the Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) All AAAF Folders (specific number may be identified) will need to be made available if they are requested
