Chapter 3 Supraventricular Rhythms II

Atrial Fibrillation

No P wave you have fibrillatory “f” waves Chaotic firing of the atria. No organized contraction = Quivering. Contribution of atria contraction to ventricular filling is not achieved. Randon AV conduction so the QRS is normal.

F waves “f” - Fine vs. Coarse Normal conduction to the ventricle. Ventricular Rate Irregulary irregular ventricular depolarization.

Ventricular Rate – pg. 37 Slow: Regular R-R? Moderate: Regular R-R? Fast: Regular R-R?

Atrial Flutter – pg. 36

Atrial depolarizes in a systematic, organized manner = sawtooth pattern. “F” = sawtooth pattern. Atrial Rate may be as high as 300 Ventricular rate may be regular Consistent ratio of F waves cause a 4:1 or 2:1 ratio.

Rate Below (figure 3.3 C) atrial rate is 300 and ventricular rate is 75. Therefor a 4:1 conduction. Fourth F wave is meging with QRS.

F waves in II, III, aVF – inferior leads – conduction to the bottom of the heart.
