Goals for This Session I. Read article and discuss what storybook reading is and why we do it II. View read-aloud routine in action and discuss lessons learned III. Review the different components of the read- aloud routine daily cycle and weekly framework IV. Plan and practice with read-aloud book V. Discuss next steps

Article Points to consider: What are the key elements of an effective read-aloud? Why incorporate a daily read-aloud routine? What are the benefits of a read-aloud routine?

Video Use the observation form as you watch video to write down key points Discuss video at your tables and be ready to share

Present, Model, Plan and Practice Present and model elements of story read- aloud (Before Reading, During Reading, After Reading) Use the Routine Practice and Planning Template and Daily Cycle Diagram to plan and organize. (chunk text, choose vocabulary, and create questions) In groups, practice reading your story following Day 1 of the Read Aloud Weekly Framework.
