synopsis The current PAD incarnation with 119 MHz acquisition fails to resolve pulse shape to required resolution. This resolution is required not only for DUT RF signals but also for SLED tuning and pulse shaping. PAD resolution is about 40 ns. NLCTA structure tests use GS scopes (Faya) Our effective resolution is 6 bits in our current setup. Recommendation is to go to 12 bit/5ns -> 60dB dynamic range PAC/PAD triggering system in development at TS11 Off the shelf ZTEC EPICS recommendations: – ZT4611 E LXI 2 ch 8 bit $10,810. – ZT4612 E LXI 4 ch 8 bit $17,505 – ZT4422 E LXI 2/4 ch =1/.5 GS 12 bit $13, ZTEC4612 available for testing G Haller uses EPICS with Acqiris (our current DAQ system)

High power RF capabilities From Two 50 MW Klystrons Variable iris Variable Delay line length through variable mode converter Gate Valves Two experimental stations inside the enclosure, one with compressed pulse and the other without the benefit of the pulse compressor. With two 50MW XL4 klystrons ASTA can produce: 1.5 μs --> 63 ns at X-band and feed two experimental outputs in the enclosure. Courtesy of Valery Dolgashev
